Meet ARRI’s 2023 Mascot, Stella!
Stella is a sweet and gentle 12-year-old Chihuahua. If she could speak, she would have an extraordinary story to tell.
Stella spent the first two years of her life in a puppy mill. She never walked on the grass, enjoyed the sun, or knew the touch of a tender hand. That changed in 2012 when she was rescued by Long Island’s North Shore Animal League.
That was only the start of her good fortune. As soon as Chris and her family met Stella, it was true love. Her family has been privileged to watch Stella grow over the last 10 years, from the shy, scared pup she was when they first adopted her, into the sweet girl she is. This diminutive pup is now a friendly, loving member of the family who loves nothing better than to play with her doggie siblings, Nina and Dolce.
As Chris recounts, “Stella is a special member of our family and has two younger siblings, Dolce, a whippet, and Nina, an Italian greyhound. We were introduced to ARRI through good friends that are involved with the shelter. We’re so happy that Stella is the 2023 mascot for this great organization. It’s very important to us that senior dogs get recognized too.”
Now, Stella enjoys the wonderful life she always deserved, living in Florida and visiting New York and Rhode Island throughout the year. Her favorite things are playing with her siblings Dolce and Nina, traveling, and sunning herself on the deck of her family’s boat.
We are proud to have this adorable senior puppy mill survivor as our 2023 mascot. Welcome, Stella, to the Animal Rescue Rhode Island family!

As the ARRI Mascot, Stella received a glamorous studio photo session with Bethany Anna Photography. Two of our favorite shots are now displayed on banners in our driveway, welcoming guests as they arrive and thanking our visitors when they leave.
