Dear Friends,
Recently I spoke with community members who recalled ARRI’s evolution over many decades. They marveled at ARRI’s “new” shelter, which opened in 2015, and wondered how many animals we need to place in homes to ensure that adoption fees cover all shelter costs.
It’s an understandable question. The reality, however, is that adoption fees cover about 10% of our annual costs. The cost of veterinary care and providing food, housing, and training for any given animal often exceeds its adoption fee. Instead, we depend on our individual and corporate supporters, as well as grants, to further our mission. Depending only on adoptions to fund our work would require us to place at least 4,490 pets each year!
We hope you’ll think of that as you read about our upcoming fundraisers over the next few months. Joining us at any or all of them is a great way to have fun and support our life-saving work at the same time – and we’d love the chance to thank you in person! With gratitude, |

Ava's Adoption Event Was A Big Success! |
Ava’s Adoption Event / Pawsome Pets this past Saturday was a GREAT success.
A big THANK YOU to Ava, a Narragansett High School student, for conducting
her senior project with ARRI. Congratulations on a successful event! We were overjoyed by the community’s support! Over 230 donation "wish list" items were collected, several cats and dogs were adopted during the event, and more than $1,000 was raised for the pets at our shelter. Thank you to all the attendees and donors who made the day a success!

Meet Giblet, affectionately known as Gibbs! This one-year-old charming and energetic boy is in foster care, eagerly awaiting a permanent home. Gibbs is intelligent and highly trainable. All he needs is a few yummy treats and some calming pets, and he’s ready to perform. Gibbs loves spending quality time with his humans, relishing couch snuggles and playtime. Hello ARRI Team,
Sassy (now named Arrietty) is doing great! She enjoys climbing around on her cat tower and snuggling in bed with us at night. It didn’t take long for her to win us over, and now she runs the place! We are very thankful for being given the opportunity to be her forever home.
