A Message From Our Executive Director |
|
|
Dear Friends,
Every day the staff falls in love with the pets at our shelter, and that’s what motivates us to work on their behalf. It’s so rewarding to see a shy cat blossom or a dog who came from challenging circumstances learn to trust again. Time and time again, our team witnesses these transformations and they fuel our passion We believe all pets deserve a family of their own, and we continue to go to any length for all of them. Watching them respond to consistent, loving care, and seeing hope in their eyes, are gifts made possible only through your support.
We hope you’ll join us at Bark on the Beach and on our Sunset Ferry Cruise in the fall, where you can be sure that participating transforms lives. Your kindness brings hope to the pets in our care, and we look forward to celebrating you! With gratitude, |
Liz Skrobisch

Fourth of July Pet Safety
|
Many humans enjoy fireworks, but they can be terrifying for most pets and other animals. Fireworks, and other phenomena that produce unpredictable and sudden loud sounds (such as thunder), can trigger major stress in animals. Since we're approaching the 4th of July, we're sharing suggestions for keeping your pet comfortable and safe: Keep your pets inside. Keep your pet safely indoors, preferably with a radio or TV turned on to soften jarring noises. Even pets who are usually kept outdoors should be brought inside. If you have small pets, such as rabbits and birds, make sure you place their cages or hutches indoors in a quiet room, shed or garage. Make sure your pet's identification is up to date. More pets get lost on July 4th than any other day of the year. Be sure your pet's ID tags are on securely, and take a current photo. Consider microchipping your pet in advance of the holiday. Adjust your walking schedule. If you typically walk your pet at night, adjust the exercise time to earlier in the day so your pet won't be outside once the fireworks begin.
Consider a stress-reducing garment. Anxiety vests, a snug t-shirt, or a blanket can help reduce your pet's anxiety once the fireworks start. Your veterinarian may also be able to suggest some techniques to alleviate anxiety.
Fireworks danger. Be careful of fireworks when taking your pet outside. They can be harmful if ingested. Any animal that swallows fireworks should be treated by a veterinarian immediately. |

We first saw Yukon on TV, and his story touched our hearts. Entering the shelter at three months old, he waited six long months for a loving home. As we learned more about Yukon, we discovered he had a kennel mate named Pepper. Although she hadn’t been in the shelter quite as long, we couldn’t bear to leave her behind. So, with hearts full of hope, we decided to bring them both to ARRI to give them a fresh start. Yukon is a playful, treat-motivated puppy, eager to please. Pepper is a social butterfly who loves toys, kisses, and belly rubs. Both promise joy and companionship to their future families.
We are excited to see Yukon and Pepper finally experience the warmth of loving homes. If you’re interested in adopting, call (401) 783-7606 x105, visit www.animalrescueri.org, or stop by the shelter today. |

Our goal is to bring best friends and families together, and it's truly gratifying when we

Greetings! It has been one month since we brought little Valentina home, and all three of us couldn’t be happier. Joe says if we designed the perfect kitty for us, we could not have done a better job. Valentina is sweet, feisty, and affectionate - and what an eater! She has taken over our hearts and home.

| Cody (now Ned) is doing great. We call him nervous Ned; he loves going to the beach and hiking. He is the sweetest boy who is so gentle. He loves everyone he comes in contact with. He loves his aunt Tawney, AKA Tori, who was adopted from ARRI a week prior to him! We love him. Emma and Kevin |
